Today was the day I met up with Taj. I walked in to the gallery about 10 seconds before her. She’s so nice! I’m really excited about the upcoming exhibition. It’s meant to be ‘work’ but meeting with Lisa and Taj was a great stress reliever. It also made me look at my invitation to May Arts Month opening and made me realise today was the deadline for rsvps so I quickly whipped one off. Still a lot to do. Need about 20 or so paintings for this exhibit, have to figure out which paintings to send for AAS and then theres also the NZAG Make It Memorable exhibit. I have pieces for that just waiting to be finished but I keep changing my mind! There’s been way to much going on today so I’m really praying for a quieter day tomorrow. I’ll keep you posted!
In invercargill there aren’t too many places to shop for art supplies so I’m a dedicated shopper at the Art Store in town. I began using resin about a month ago and knew they’d be the only place I could count on to find it. When I went in, the lovely lady who’s name I must learn, got talking and showed me a small sample of the end result. She asked if I’d bring in my piece at a later date to show her. After multiple trips back without the painting for various reasons, I FINALLY was able to take along my painting to show her. I was blown away by her reaction! I’ve seen others bring in pieces to show her and she smiled politely and said nice things but she was very genuinely impressed with it and I’m sure, had it been for sale right then and there it would be hers. I won’t list the compliments because there were many and I’m sooo thankful. Some days it just gets so hard to carry on as an artist but today it felt worth it.
I just received this via email although it actually looks all flashy in the email but I can’t figure out to save it so I can also show it as a picture. I’ll have to wait till hubby is home to see if he can do it for me, but for now here’s what it says.

Collectively these 19 Artists have produced this creative array of seafood inspired art specifically for Invercargill’s inaugural May Arts Month, coinciding with the Bluff Seafood and Oyster festival. A call went out to a range of Southland Artist’s about a month ago to encourage collaboration amongst the artists, galleries and art enthusiasts alike. It is an opportunity for creative minds to join forces by means of a mutual theme and celebrate the richness of Southlands environmental and seafood subjects. It is an occasion to merge with like-minded talents, and fuel each others creative energies and to delight in everything seafood associated in Southland!
Kind regards

I’ve been extremely bored today on this, the first day of the school holidays. It is wet and cold outside and my living room has bits of candyland and buckaroo sprawled across it while cartoons are playing in the background. I have a whole 2 weeks to look foward to like this. I’ve had requests for baking and 1000piece puzzles but that sure isn’t about to happen any time soon! I’m just really really tired and apologised to the kids for not making more of an effort. I feel like I could sleep for a million years. It’s days like today that I long for a babysitter. I’m hoping a trip to the gym will give me more energy and inspire me to take on a more positive approach for tomorrow!
So I got to browsing and found some little tidbits from the internet that I figured I’d add to my page too.

I got behind the camera and what did I see?

Don’t click on this one to enlarge!
I’m looking a lot older than I remember.
I’m also looking more tired but granted this photo was taken at 2am after a looong few days.
Make up so isn’t my thing. This was makeup done by a makeup artist from the MAC store in St Lukes.
My eyes are so mismatched.
I can’t believe I have short hair.
Stretchmarks.
Loose skin.
Big goofy smile.
But hang on, what else do I see?
A dedicated wife
A mum that gives a damn and was missing her family like crazy.
Someone comfortable in her own skin that knows what she is happy doing.
I can rock a short do!
Pink lips make me look like I have a nice even tan.
A smile that has created a lot of friendships.
I’m aging ok for someone that has 3 little ones and not a lot of help.
How do you see yourself? Are you kinder to others than you are to yourself? Probably!
Well, I had no idea May was actually renamed May Arts Month for Southland but I sure know now. I just received an invitation to the opening night. I may as well go. It means not making it to a workout which is actually a sad thing for me but it does mean meeting other creative people in Southland, so that balances it out. I got this big brochure thing about it too and there is a tonne happening around Southland for that time. Once again, Southland community spirit shines through, it’s strong I tells ya! There are short films, exhibitions, theatre, comedy acts, poetry recitals, bands, food, dance, dolls and a whole lot more. Definitely sounds like a busy month for lil old Invercargill. In the brochure I spotted a fellow artist Deanna Gracies name all lit up. Deanna creates the most amazing jewellery you’ll ever have laid eyes on. I’ll head over to that exhibit to see her jewellery in real life. I can’t wait till I have some extra money laying around to get myself one of her bracelets. Her blog and website links are on this page, just scroll down and click on Deanna Gracie. Below that was the ad for the Seafood Cocktail exhibition.
Deannas Name in white lights hehe:
