The Affordable Art Show begins today. Theres an article on TV3 news tonight about it. I’m intrigued to hear what they say because it’s something about NZers not having the money to spend on art right now, which sounds about right! Every Artist I speak to is having trouble in the market. Galleries are closing left, right and centre. The economy is leaving everyone with no extra money to play with and even if people do have money, they’re being a bit more cautious with it. Fair enough too.
I have one painting at the show. No idea if it will sell but it doesn’t mean it’s a bad painting if it doesn’t! I find a lot of males love this painting. Just an interesting observation I’ve made. It would be fun to attend this show and see the variety. I like show with lots of different styles, they suit me.

So I apologise. Things have just been really busy. I haven’t painted anything in forever, it feels! I keep looking at my paintings in waiting, longing to do something with them but I just haven’t found the time. The net few weeks I will have something to show.
We just got back from Queenstown. I planned a surprise weekend away for my husbands birthday. I felt we just needed the break, it would be fun and my hubby would love a surprise.
We went up the gondola for lunch at the restaurant, hired a babysitter so we could see dark knight, went to the lolly and fudge stores, walked along the lakefront marketplace and a lot more.We had a blast.
Here are some photos of Queentown. Its just a beautiful place. Hopefully I’ll have some new paintings to share soon!

I decided to rework my Broken Earth painting. I’ll be sending it away ths week. After putting on its finishing coat I was feeling a little light headed but guess that’s what you get when you spray a huge painting inside a room with all the doors and wndows shut! Don’t worry, I opened up the window and the clean air quickly filtered through. So here it is! Sorry about the glare on the photo. I never claimed to be a photographer.

Title: Broken Earth
For Sale: $1,200.00
Size: 80cm x 100cm
Medium: Mixed Media – Acrylic and Modelling Paste – Heavily textured
I’ve been snowed under with everthing else in life so I haven’t been doing much painting. That’s about to change though as I just fnished finding and updating my exhibtions spreadsheet. It was on my old pc that recently kicked the bucket. Thankfully I’m married to a computer guy and he got all our important documents off the hardrive and onto my new portable one. So I’ve spent the evening updating all my exhibition info which is really good because it was so out of date! New exhibits are fast approaching and I have to get together some new work. It’s exciting, I have a few new things up my sleeve. I’ve just began to work on a small bundle for the upcoming Christchurch exhibition. So keep your eyes peeled! Gosh, how many times can I say new?
