Quote of the Day

by Chavah Kinloch on April 29, 2009

“I shut my eyes in order to see.”
Paul Gauguin

I find that I can really relate to this quote.

6 years ago today, I got married! Now the wedding was not at all flash, in fact thinking about the day traumatises me (I’m dead serious) but I LOVE the fact that Andrew and I were able to exchange vows and show the world how much we love being together. I’m definitely a bride that wasn’t after a wedding, I was and am, more concerned with the marriage. Now, although we’ve been married for 6 years, we’ve been together for 8 and pretty much living in a marriage for that long.
Us 8 years ago.

Us nowadays.

6 Great things from the marriage:

  1. Nearly 4 amazingly perfect children.
  2. The realisation that I deserve happiness.
  3. The great extended family we have on both sides.
  4. Realising and using our talents together to better our lives.
  5. The enormous amounts of laughter that come from our place on any given day.
  6. Some pretty fantastic food!

6 Interesting Memories:

  1. The ring magic trick – da da da da da….
  2. Our relocation to Invercargill vacation and road trip
  3. The toilet falling through the floor!
  4. Sunset at Piha
  5. Fist fights at the movies making things so much more interesting. (Not us lol)
  6. Selling a house that wasn’t on the market in one weekend.

6 Harder Things:

  1. Leaving all our friends and family behind.
  2. Those years battling depression. Thank you Andrew.
  3. Pregnancy – all of them! I’m no good at this. You’d think after four times I’d be used to it.
  4. Kids breaking into the house while we were there and stealing the car we just bought.
  5. Davis in NICU.
  6. Emergency surgery after Nas’ delivery.

I’m sure people get sick of me talking about how much I love my husband but I just do. I really do. Bring on eternity with him!

I’m currently working on a new artist website. I will be incorporating my blog into it as well as a few extra interesting goodies! I can’t wait for the launch but it’s still a big work in progress right now. Keep watch for the update.

As for my ladies in waiting aka the readers waiting for their homemade gift, I am still trying to figure out what I can pass along. Actually just writing this I may have had an epiphany. I haven’t forgotten you though :)

Good News!

by Chavah Kinloch on April 23, 2009

About two weeks ago I ventured out to Riverton. While there I stopped by a place called TripleOne Gallery. I dropped off a some pieces to be assessed at the next committee meeting to see if I’d be able to join them to sell my work through. I got a messge on my cellphone this morning saying they loved my paintings and I was accepted! I called them back and we sorted commission rates, I’m very happy. Thanks Triple One!

Happy Easter!

by Chavah Kinloch on April 14, 2009

I hope you all had a great Easter! I sure did. I spent most of it in bed though. Who knew a pregnant woman could sleep so much! I’m pretty sure this baby just had a growth spurt though. We get 5 days off where I live so today was our last day. We spent the day out in Riverton, a small town about 1/2 an hours drive from our place.

First we stopped by a Gallery there to drop some work in and then we spent the rest of the day at the wharf fishing for sprats. It was fun! There was a Filipino lady beside us we chatted with all day and Nas caught his first fish!!! He’s been on a high ever since.

My kids broke my camera about a month ago so while we’re saving up for the one we want I can’t show you any of my new pieces I’m sorry. Or a photo of my son with his first catch, ugh. Soon enough though!

Last week I received my piece of this years NZAG Collaborative Project. I stared at it for about a week and then completed it yesterday. Well, almost. I tried using some colour and it just didn’t work visually for me so I’ve decided to keep it very very simple. Now sometime this week I need to purchase a paint pot that matches my piece to paint over the no longer wanted colours. Then I can send it back to be put together with the other pieces and wait for the big reveal!

That’s it for now. The photos are the 2 creations I just made on photofunia.com. So fun.
