I don’t know where my head has been this month. I think I went a bit silly the week I got sick. It seems I just let everything out of my mind and never pieced it all back together. I JUST today, remembered there are only 28 days in February. Thus meaning that next week is opening night for the exhibition I’m co ordinating called New Zealand’s Got Talent.
“With artists taking part from both near and far New Zealand’s Got Talent is an exhibition set to feature both award-winning and emerging artists. The aim of the month long exhibit being held at City Gallery, Invercargill is to showcase a broad range of styles and expose the upcoming talent that New Zealand has to offer. From abstraction to landscapes, mixed media to mosaics the amazing lineup of 29 fascinating artists is sure to delight viewers from all walks of life. The show is to have an opening night at City Gallery, Don Street at 7pm, March 5th 2010. The exhibition itself is open to the public and will run from March 5th-31st. Participating artists from the Southland region will be in attendance.

Tuesday I was in at the gallery with Gabrielle designing invitations to opening night (baby in tow hehe), Wednesday I met Marimba, Thursday I met Philina and all week (and a few before then) I’ve had gorgeous pieces of art rolling up here and at the gallery. It’s pretty exciting and I’m so impressed by the standard of work being brought in. NZ really does have talent.
Amongst all that I’ve had the regular parenting duties with an extremely fussy and pukey baby this week, writing and sending a press release to different medias, school picnics/meeting the kids new teachers, babysitting kids friends and the other bits of work I do from home on any given day. So I’m pretty excited to see this all up and in all honesty, I haven’t even thought about what to do for opening night, I’ve only just started designing the flyer! I hate half a$ed jobs so will make sure everything runs smoothly in the end. We’re almost there though and it hasn’t been too stressful to pull it all together. The artists know what they’re doing and for that I’m grateful, it makes my job a whole lot easier.
Here a couple of shots of some of the packages. There are more but I couldn’t be bothered traipsing out to my studio hehe. I can’t wait to see them all on show!
