I always like seeing what everyone else carries on them when they do these types of posts. I never joined in because when it comes to handbags I really don’t have anything in them. In fact most days I’ll just grab my purse and phone and trot off.
I realised that there is a bag I carry a lot in though, and each time before I leave the house I make sure I don’t forget anything from it or else I will get extremely anxious. So welcome to the display of contents from my gym bag.
From top left:
- Old beanie – I haven’t taken it out since last winter.
- Hand towel – Used to wipe up sweat.
- Body spray – Shower in a can.
- Nivea roll on deodorant - My new favourite.
- 12oz pink boxing gloves – Only packed on kickboxing days.
- Hand wraps – Make it easier to not slip when doing a gazillion push ups and hand walking drills.
- 1.5 litre water bottle – Almost always have one with me.
- Extra bobby pins – Cannot train with my hair all on my face.
- Raspberry lip smacker – MUST HAVE. Applied before & after every workout.
- Tampons – Just in case.
- Ipod – Big flash expensive one broke, bought this basic one to ‘make do’ and actually prefer it. Hate training without it!
- Lifting gloves – Very handy for my sweaty paws. Love the wrist support.
- Workout notebook – I write down everything I do, it comes in handy with new routines and tracking my progress.
- Pen – For notes.
- Three sets of headphones – I usually use the white ones. Sometimes I’ll sweat so much in a session that I’ll make a headphone stop working so I’ll switch them out for a spare set.
- My phone – Pink of course. Have you noticed a theme.
- Purse – You know, in case I die and someone needs to identify me. Still looks brand new after 4 years!
- My keys & gym login key – I’ve been better at keeping track of them ever since joining my gym.
- Business cards in card holder – Because you never know who you’ll meet! I have two and keep them in different bags so I can hand them out when I meet someone new.
- Extra workout ideas – Lots of killer circuits.
What’s in your bag? Do you keep it organised or is it a collection spot for everything you get handed throughout your day?
Just after new years we were fortunate enough to have my husband’s parents come down and visit us. It was such a treat! While here, my Mother in law went above and beyond, proving that she is indeed one amazing grandmother. After this post here about curtains for Boston’s bedroom, I had planned on sending some fabric up to her to make the curtains for us. We never quite got there. As luck would have it though, the week before they arrived there were some crazy sales going on and while I was browsing the aisles of Spotlight I stumbled across a fabulous, double length, polka dot fabric marked at $2 a metre. Not only that, there was 30% off. I bought the whole roll!
After the curtains were sewn up we went back to purchase the bits and pieces to hang them.
This morning I finally got around to photographing the room with the new curtains up. It makes it feel so much more finished (even though I still have more decorating to do). Boston loved the photo shoot, I think he just likes showing off his room. All throughout my clicking he would move into shot asking for more and say ‘my room, my bed, my toys, my curtain, my elephant’ etc… Yeah, I think he’s proud of his bedroom.
Here’s the end result:

New curtains for under $15. (For everything)
We ended up placing the new curtains in front of the old ones. The old ones were in great condition and did everything we needed curtains to do, they just didn’t look the part, so now we have a double layer. It’s just as easy as using the one set. I think we owned this project. Best $15 curtains I’ve ever seen!

And this is what my Boston bun was getting up to beside me.
I’m feeling like a very lucky lady today. A package arrived for me and I couldn’t wait to tear into it. I knew exactly what it would be!

I won a Valentines Day competition earlier in the week and this absolutely stunning lingerie set arrived just for me.
Yep, I’m on cloud nine!
Do you know how little I get to purchase anything remotely hot like this for the fun of it?! It’ll make a nice change from my sports bras hehe.
I found out about the competition simply because the bra I was wearing had the under wire pop through and stab me so I headed to the store and purchased my first Zabu bra. I noticed they had a website on their tag – which made me squeal with delight, I love companies that understand how important that is – so I headed there and followed them on Facebook & Twitter and the rest is history.
The great thing about the competition is that it was held by Caprice Intimates, a brand that caters for women of all sizes:
At Caprice Intimates we believe that beauty starts from within, so whether you’re an A cup or an F cup, or anything in between, there is a style in the Caprice range that is just right for you.
See! Great huh? If you’re a regular here you’ll have heard me whine about my massive boobage so I am so happy to have a set that is colourful, amazingly beautiful and fit’s my DD’s! Usually the pretty stuff stops at C. *insert extremely disappointed face here* For all my weight loss my boobs haven’t changed a bit. Well, they look better but size wise they’re the same.
I had a lunch date with my husband today and when I showed him that my package had arrived the first words out of his mouth were “So when do I get to see you in them!”. I know I’m not the only wife (or girlfriend or single hot blooded female) who wants that to be the first thought to pop into that special someone’s head. Have I sold you on them now? Because I confess I am now their number one fan. Come on ladies, join me
You can find them stocked at Farmers!
I was part of an art exhibition last year called How Diversity Works. There was an article about it in my local paper, for some reason I never blogged about it.

It was held in Auckland and I would have loved to have attended this exhibition to take part in the artist panel but alas, my artist funds are pretty much non existent as for the past year I’ve been choosing to only paint when I feel moved to paint instead of to make an income. It’s worked well for me actually.
The works from the exhibition were all photographed and have now been put up to create an online exhibition. You can read artist statements and learn about each individual artist and why we put in the works that we did. Read here.
I really enjoyed creating my piece, it was very freeing. When you read my statements, compared to the other artists it won’t say much. Just a very run of the mill piece. I’m grateful for that because what I put in was actually very personal and their wonderful admin contacted me to ensure only what I was comfortable with being available for others to read was out there, so that’s why mine seems so simple next to everyone else’s.
The painting should say enough. Check it out here.
Give your loved one a card:

This had me in stitches when I first saw it. Had to share it with you all. Happy Valentines Day! I’m doing nothing hehe.
