The vision we have here at My Belly is for all women to look as beautiful on the outside as they feel on the inside (morning sickness aside!).
Anyone who has ever been in the 9 month waiting game understands just how important this is. So spread the word to all your pregnant friends and family and if you’re currently expecting a new little bundle of smooshyness yourself, take a look. Especially at this sales page, seriously great prices!
Hardworking, strong willed, passionate.
I grew up in a self employed house and I always knew that I wanted to be my own boss, not that I have an issue with having a boss but I know how hard I can work and I wanted to see the rewards for all the effort I put in.
When I was pregnant with my first child I was reading Pregnancy Cosmopolitan and looking at all these beautiful clothes that I would be buying soon. When I finally got big enough to look at buying maternity clothes (23 weeks) I went shopping only to be so bitterly disappointed! The clothes were ugly, ill-fitting, florally (not that I mind floral too much) or they were gorgeous and SO expensive. I couldn’t win. So I thought I could complain about it endlessly or I could do something about it.
Research, research, research. Make sure you know your market better than anyone else. Make sure there is a true space in the market for you and your idea. Build your business around your USP (Unique Selling Point). Make sure your back office is in order, that’s what will cost you time and money.
My son and family first and always. If they are suffering because of what I am doing then I have to really consider why I am doing what I am doing.
My business and my husband’s business are next, they need to be managed daily or it can become a bit of a nightmare. Then my 9-5 job, I am doing 4 days at the moment and that’s what really puts pressure on everything else.
Build My Belly brand, get it out across New Zealand so coffee groups talk about it, farmers wives are wearing it and coffee groups across the nation are shopping for it.
I am the oldest of 3 girls, we used to battle a lot. That’s what happens when you are all very similar. Thus has led me to only wanting 2 children, no one to be left out then (in theory anyway).
I have been with my husband for nearly 9 years, married for over 3. We met in London and moved back to NZ 5 years ago. He is my rock, has a very laid back way and doesn’t jump in too quickly. Unlike myself, he is a great balance for me and so very supportive of what I do and want to do.
We have a son, who is 14 months old.
Moving out of home to London from Western Australia a week after I turned 20. The world was my oyster and I was petrified! So much fun. Would never trade a minute of the 5 years I was there.
Nothing happens over night, you need to work at it slowly. Write down your goals, so you don’t modify them and change them over the years. Aim high – why not?
Never be afraid to give it a go – regret is worse than failure.
Exercise. It’s the only way I can truly get perspective on all the ‘problems’ of the minute.
See above – hehe. Exercise, wine and food. They sort of go together or you do the first to balance out the second two.
