Update on the Yellow Chair

by Chavah Kinloch on June 14, 2010

It’s finished! I finished it last week :D I’ve been hanging out to get this post up to share it with you all.

I had SUCH hard time finding the right fabric for the cushion. I knew exactly what I wanted but no matter how gorgeous the choices of fabric were, I couldn’t find it! I went to every store in Invercargill that sold fabric. I found a few stores online that I also liked but didn’t want to buy anything without seeing the fabric in person first. I eventually found the exact pattern I was looking for…on a small tablecloth…that cost $45. So yeah, that didn’t happen. Instead I spent days inspecting the 5 fabrics that were almost right. The right colours, wrong pattern; the right pattern, wrong type of fabric; the right fabric, wrong colours…

The one I went with surprised me but it works well. I was headed to the counter with another roll under my arm when I headed back and switched. I’m glad I did, I like what I got. It stuck to the black and white theme I was after and it was definitely the right choice for the chair from what there was to select from.

I did just want to say a big thank you to the person that suggested I look in H & J Smith. Their fabric selection is stunning! I didn’t find what I was after there, this time, but I had no idea they stocked fabric. I will be heading back when another project needs it. This particular pattern was purchased from spotlight.

Wow-wee girl!! Loving the chair. GREAT choice of fabric – the soft curves of the flower petals really bring out the soft curves of the chair frame. :) Fab…..I want it!!!

Wow, thank you everyone! I have more projects lined up. I would have started today but a drastic lack of sleep because of a fussy baby means the next thing will be waiting a day or two. Thanks for your lovely comments. It will be for sale, if only everyone lived closer!

Yeah Lisa :) I’m trying to make up a set to sell together and I’ll be putting it up on there. I wish I lived closer to you. The shipping would probably cost more than the chair from here.

Browsing the web, I found this website. I am searching for some ideas for a template for my own place. I like your template, did you buy or change this layout? I got a website as well and my template looks kinda sorry so visitors don’t stay on my blog very long.
