21 Days of Accountability – Day 12

by Chavah Kinloch on August 23, 2010

If you haven’t already got one of these, now’s a great time to make one.

It’s a vision board. I’ve posted mine before, I made it when I first discovered I was pregnant with Boston. I’m no longer planning any more babies but everything else on there still valid. I’ve even begun to see certain things on it start to happen.

My vision board has sat in my bedroom, next to my bed and on my bedroom wall. Now though, I’ve pulled it out and put it in a very public place. I’ve done this A) Because it serves as a great reminder for what I’m trying to achieve and B) When people come around they ask questions.

I always hid it in my room because I didn’t want to answer the questions just yet, but now I’m ready. I’m ok to talk about the weight issues and my goals for the future.

I’ve created a corner above our shared desk with the vision board and a white board that features a countdown, motivational photos and quotes. The white board also say’s ‘File tax returns!’ but we can ignore that part for this post hehe.

The reason I’m ok with people asking questions now is because it makes me take responsibility for what’s going on in my life. When people know that I’m trying to get fit and get in shape, they will talk about it. They WILL judge me. I won’t kid myself, if I get fat again I know it’ll make some hater out there smirk. I’m the type of person that likes to outdo my own expectations, so it’s very unlikely I’ll go down without a fight. If I think I’m losing support or someone doesn’t believe in me, I will push even harder to prove that someone wrong. I’ve done it my entire life so it’s a bit hard to change my true self now. Anyway, I don’t want to. That’s one thing I really like about myself.

Once someone knows you’re trying to lose weight they will check up on you. They’ll ask you how it’s going, there are even some that will try to sabotage you (you better believe it!). Having a vision board, for me, is a great visual tool to help keep me inspired. They’re also a lot of fun to make.

Your challenege today - Make your own vision board.

I saw a friends vision board the other month and hers was great too. Really bright and inspirational. When she began she asked how you knew what images to use. If anyone else has the same question, my answer would be; flip through magazines and if something catches your eye, rip it out. Go with the impulse/gut reaction and worry about decorating the board at the end. Just get cutting!
