21 Days of Accountability – Day 3

by Chavah Kinloch on August 14, 2010

The next thing on my list of preparation is a menu. This was key to my weight loss before and is already proving to be beneficial to the entire family. Just like the schedule, it helps my mind from freaking out about what to do next. Instead of thinking “Oh I don’t have time for that” everything on it is so simple it takes no more than 15 minutes to get sorted. This fortnights menu is pretty basic and repetitive but the weeks balance themselves out with some days being slightly higher in calories/carbs than others. As time goes on the menu will get more complex to include  a protein, fibrous carb and starchy carb for each meal. For now though, it’s all about making sure I actually eat something at regular intervals. It’s helping Andrew get something in in the mornings too which is nice to know.

A lot of people have dinner menu’s  planned, this is the same type of thing but instead of just the one meal, I’ve got all 5/6 preplanned. What I love about having a preplanned daily menu is that when it comes to shopping, it get’s really affordable! The temptation to buy something unhealthy isn’t there because you know you’ve already got your meals planned out and fitting in the junk is too hard. The only thing is I still have to buy foods that aren’t on the list to send off to school with the kids. The kids eat pretty well though.

So if you’re coming along for the ride with me; today’s challenge is to plan out a week or two’s (depending on how often you shop) daily menu to suit you/your family.

Also, Day 1 and 2 have been great!! I’m getting in everything I need to. Still working on loving those mornings though…

Great idea Chavah! I will have to copy you. If I don’t plan, then I just end up snacking and grazing on stuff that isn’t good for me.

Great Helen :D I end up forgetting to eat and then overindulging in the evening. So bad.

Thank you for this lovely read, even if it took quite a long time to complete reading. (English is not my first language)
