Meet my new constant companion:
My closest friend – water. Also known as H2O, the thirst quencher and a universal solvent.
We’ve had a rocky relationship over the past 26 years but for about 3 of them we’ve been BFF’s. Our friendship ended in the last 2 months of my pregnancy with Boston but was re-established shortly after his birth. Then 3 months ago it abruptly ended, yet again. So for the past few weeks I’ve been working on building the foundation for a permanent relationship but this past week I’ve taken it back to the old days and have decided that I will, once again, agree to be exclusive. Just me and my water. Best friends forever.
My favourite is actually lime water. It will run up around 100 calories per bottle, but the original delightful goodness is completely guilt free and is the miracle worker of all miracle workers.
Not drinking water is a bad habit from childhood. We only drank water as a last resort, there was always something else on hand. I found water disgusting!
Now that I’m the adult, in this home we’ve bought filters and filtered jugs to keep the cost of buying water down. In all honesty though, the water in Invercargill still tastes disgusting so bottled water wins by a long shot.
Waiwera water (pictured) is our water of choice because not only does it have the best taste (none!) it’s 99cents for 1.5L. It’s perfect for taking with you for the day or to guzzle down during a workout. I read once that when a person works out they should drink 1 gallon of water. I’ve tried in the past and come close but seriously, it’s beyond my abilities. Maybe if I were working out in a sauna… I’ve also read about people who drank 2 gallons and got very sick. Really? You think? 2 gallons…damn.
Another interesting water article I read said that drinking cold water burns more calories than warm or room temperature water. How? I can hear you ask. Well apparently because the water is cold, our body kicks in to warm the water up and burns more calories in the process. I’m sure I’ve done a terrible job at explaining it and I would love to link to the source but it’s been a few years since I read all this stuff. I think I found it on Women’s Health.
My main point in this post is that water is playing a big role in this weight loss and does an amazing job of nourishing our bodies. I’m glad my kids never complain about drinking it like I did. Your challenge for the day, drink enough water!
P.S. Sorry I’m late today, had a lunch date with Boston and Andrew.

I also have a hard time drinking water. My daily can of Coke habit doesn’t help. I’ll try!
I was exactly the same way when I was younger with water and I still struggle with it sometimes now! but if it burns calories fast, ive got to get guzzling more often!! lol
I enjoy your style, the fact that your site is actually a tad bit different helps make it so useful, I get fed up of viewing the same stuff all almost daily. Cheers.
