Happy Valentines Day

Take My Breathe Away

Title: Take My Breath Away - Artist: Chavah Kinloch

I’ve had a beautiful day today. I’m almost completely recovered from all the aches and pains, migraines, swollen glands, hot spells and chills that plagued me the past few days – that’s why the blog’s been a little quiet :) It came on quickly and has thankfully departed quickly.

What did everyone get up to today? Anything special?

We just went on with life as usual but at 12:05am this morning I wasn’t feeling so swell. I was on day 4 of a really terrible migraine and was all out of pain relief. The hubby was about to head out the door to pick me up some more medicine from the Night and Day store and said “but I have one thing to do before I go” and walked off. I didn’t think anything of it. He walked back in and handed me a dozen red roses. He’d bought them earlier when he’d taken the kids out birthday gift shopping for their friends. That means they all kept them secret from me. No easy feat!! Not that we keep secrets in this house. We have surprises, not secrets. I don’t often get given flowers, so I smiled my cheesy smile and attempted to find a vase for them but gave up because it felt like my head was going to explode. I’ve sorted it now :)

What did I do for him? Nothing! I feel bad. I was too busy lying around half conscious to have the energy to worry. I know it’s just a commercialised day but I love anything to do with romance and showing your significant other and those around you how much you adore them, so I’m all for it. I tried to be an extra good housewife and Mum by cleaning everything that had piled up over the past few days and doing as much as I could for the kids so he got a well deserved break.

I had an amazing day simply because I was me again. It was a bit of a grey day but the sun seemed to be shining brightly and it really did feel like it was for me? Do you ever have days that feel like that? I cut my daughters hair, my hubby cut the boys hair, we dropped our daughter off at her BFFs for the afternoon, the rest of us watched Aliens in the attic together. I cleaned, I played, I talked, I cuddled. We let the kids break into their tooth fairy money and purchase themselves a book and a toy each. At the end of the day I helped my daughter begin making her bracelet and then finally tucked them all into bed for the night. My hubby is playing NBA 2k10 – his stress buster and I’m catching up on some work. Today has been a beautiful day. I hope yours was great too.

At first I couldn’t figure out how you had already had a great V-Day because it is only morning in the US, then it dawned on me you are in NZ! So, I’m glad you had a great day. Don’t feel so bad that you didn’t reciprocate. Neither did I because I have been sick, also. My husband always says he doesn’t need a special holiday to remind him to tell me he loves me. No flowers for me, but he is a romantic. Or is that an excuse not to buy me flowers?

Now THAT’S what Valentine’s Day is all about. Wow, a family engaged, laughing and striking fear in parent’s minds with the hair cuts. That is what it should be. Well done! personally, I like the hair cuts. May every day be a valentine’s day like this for you.

LOL Lanita. Sorry you’ve been sick too, maybe you caught it off me :P We don’t need flowers to tell us we’re loved, it helps though hehe. Happy Valentines Day :D

I have a tree in my front yard. I want to plant some flowers around it. Not from seed, though. I live in Michigan. The flowers would get no sun because the tree shades it. I also don’t want to have to water them every day. I like colorful flowers. Anyone know of which types of flowers would do well in that situation? Thanks.
