I am loving renovating Boston’s room. It’s physically exhausting and completely messy but I’m having so much fun DIYing. I think I was born to DIY. I’m so happy.
We’ve primed the doors and edging of the room. I used my spray primer that I buy for furniture upcycling. It made things so much faster than a brush and paint! Just under one can did almost the entire edging and doors.
We put up the first layer of paint on the walls yesterday and it makes me giddy to stand in the middle of the room and look around at how much progress we’ve made in just a few days. I open the door and I feel energised walking into the space. It’s great.
The entire floor is taped up so that the layers upon layers of paint that we’re going to end up slapping on the walls won’t ruin the ugly carpet lol. In the not to distant future I hope to change the flooring in this house but for now, what we have works just fine and I’m happy to live with it. At least until I have a spare $5000.
We took the door handles off the wardrobe doors and accidentally shut them, which meant we then we had to jimmy them open with a screwdriver. Fun times.
Seeing the room like this makes me think of all the little decorative accessories I’ll get to put up in just a little while. I think that next to the stripping of the wallpaper, sourcing the accessories will be the most time consuming thing. I have some things already – cot, frames etc but the rest of the things still need to be bought, shipped or handmade by myself. I can see my patience being tried. I see the vision in my head and I just want to recreate it right now. Patience is a virtue though, right? So lets see if I can attain it through this renovation.
