I’ve just finished shopping for the first time in forever. I don’t shop much, I have enough. Most of the money goes on the kids, funnily enough. It doesn’t really bother me but it was nice to be told that I was only allowed to spend money on myself. Yes I said ‘told’. He ‘told’ me. I tried to reject but alas, he won and I got myself a mini shopping spree. Who am I to say chivalry is dead?

So now I can cross something else off my list!

17. Buy something nice for myself.

Really wishing Invercargill had a mall.   To tell you the truth I just didn’t love it. At all. I did find a few bits and bobs:

• A scarf
• A hat
• A tunic
• 2 rings
• 2 tops
• A dress
• A jacket
• A cardigan

but it took me two days of searching the whole town. I had a budget and I only bought what I loved. In fact I still have 5 bucks left. What can you buy for $5 I hear you ask. I’m taking it and buying myself a pair of earrings. I saw them in the store today but walked away. They’re $5 with 20% off. So really, they’re $4.  Oh, what to do with my spare dollar…hehe. Talk about big spender.

I’m thinking that if I’m going to shop I’ll have to do it online from now on though. Other than Ezibuy and TradeMe I have no idea where to look! I want fashionable but affordable…doesn’t everyone lol. I usually do a massive shop when I travel home and just pick up the little things when we need them.

Can you let me know of some great spots to look online please? I’ve looked in every store we have here and am completely underwhelmed. I see great fashion on tv, online and in ads but they’re not in any stores where I live, that’s for sure. I swear they only cater to the “I’m short and stumpy and need you to make me look even more short and stumpy” crowd at the few stores we do have here. What is with that? I thought these retail companies had people that traveled the world hand picking the latest fashions for us.

So I’m on the look out for the best online stores. More specifically I’m looking to buy a yellow, green, blue or red winter coat.

On a side note… I just saw some kids on TV wearing dress shirts with basketball shorts. They gave me flashbacks to my childhood. Thank goodness we grow up and get to dress ourselves. OMG why did my parents let me out of the house? I looked feral. On that same tip.. Why did they buy me clothes only fit for rejects?! My Mum was totally stylish in her prime. My skin is crawling thinking back to some of the clothes I had. My thing was that I had to wear a million layers (not by choice). I remember one time we had class photos and everybody had to wait while I took off the bulk by stripping off the layers. My teachers faces were priceless.

Wow, just wow. So ugly.

It was the 80′s though lol.
