Number one:

A spinach smoothie.

Thank you NZGirl for sharing this delectable recipe with everyone. I. Am. Addicted.

This smoothie is so good. Not a word of a lie, I can’t stop thinking about this drink. Not only am I a fan, my kids love it too. Yes, kids and spinach. Gotta love it! (They’re usually good with veges though.)

All you need to make this gorgeous drink, is spinach, greek yoghurt, a banana and a pear. That’s it! Blend it all together and you’re good to go.

See it happen step by step here.

Number two:

Flea Market Style

I think this book has been written just for me. Look at that title. It says ‘Come hither Chavah’. I love to read about other peoples great buys and hot spots to shop for a bargain. There’s nothing more impressive to me than a home that it gorgeous but has been styled with love and on a budget. When you have money to spend on whatever you want, it’s obvious you’ll end up with an impressive space. When you go into decorating on a tight budget, you’re stuck trying to make the most with what you have and have to put to use some creative ideas. I’d happily indulge myself with a quiet evening by the fire to read this book.

Number three:

Twisting Tree Necklace.

I love trees. The first painting I ever sold was a triptych of the old tree I had in my front yard. Since then they’ve shown up quite a bit in my work. I based an entire series on them and created a poem to go with it. Now I seem obsessed with them and anything featuring branches or a tree gets an instant ‘thumbs up’ from me.

Take me to the love tree
the place where joy will come to be
where I can find true harmony
and everlasting sunshine surrounds me

Through the mist
past fear and doubt
to a beautiful wonderland
where love is bound

Where naked souls will grow together
and seal their hearts desires forever.

So yeah, I like the necklace!

Number four:

Ma is White Womans T-Shirt

I love this tee. It’s from Mr Vintage. I like a lot on Mr Vintage! For those that don’t quite understand this t-shirt, the words are in Maori and each word is a colour. The colour that’s written is the colour that’s used. We have a song in NZ that we use to teach the children how to memorise the colours in Maori – “Ma is white, Whero is red, Kakariki green, pango is black, mangu is too. A (ahh)  E (ehh)  I (eee)  O (oar) U (eww). (Well, with a bit of an accent, hard to explain in text.)

NZ $29.95 from Mr Vintage

Number five:

Kartell Lou Lou Ghost Chair

We all know of the fabulous Ghost Chair created by designer Phillipe Starck, well this is it’s baby version, created just for kids. I know it could be considered a completely frivolous expense but it’s gorgeous and I’m thinking I’ll get one for my daughter at some stage.

US $133.00 from EmmoHome

Number six:

The Jay-Z, Buffett and Forbes on Success and Giving Back Article

I read this article as soon as it was uploaded. Surely everybody has heard of Warren Buffet and Steve Forbes? Some of the most successful businessmen in the entire world. Jay Z is a rapper turned very successful businessman, some people might know him as Beyonce’s husband. In the article the threesome discover just how much in common an investor, a publisher and a rapper, have. They all have a story, they speak about their motivations, how one simple comment can change a life and the risks they’ve taken. Throughout the entire article you begin to think that these men were put on this earth just to be known for their poignant quotes.

A sixth-grade teacher said, “You know what, you’re kind of smart.” And I believed her. I said, “I’m smart, right?”

One Step Closer

by Chavah Kinloch on August 3, 2008

Ok so I’m finally making progress with planning which paintings to send to Christchurch. YAAY! I’m sending my miniatures, although I’m a few short so I will need too pick up some more canvases. Hopefully they’ll have some in store but if not, I willl get some long thin ones instead. See, I have my back up plan all ready.
More good news, I sold a piece tonight. It WAS meant to go to Christchurch, I had it all laid out with the others in my makeshift panel but it’s been purchased so now I will have to make something else to replace it. All good! I also got a piece commissioned which sounds like fun. Something with my poetry or inspirational quotes, with a manly feel hehehe. I can’t wait to see what happens.
I altered a couple of the miniatures today. I have TRIED to get photos but seeing as its so darn overcast and miserable outside and the clear coat on the paintings just refects and gives off a glare so they’ve turned out horribly. Ill attempt to get better photos at a later date.

Take Down Day

Today is the take down day at The Bank Gallery. Ill go in next week to pick up my paintings. Apparently they’d like to keep some of the pieces for the gallery to sell so that’s fine. I’ll be putting a few of them in other places throughout NZ though so I’ll update everyone on [...]

The Secret

I don’t hide the fact that I’m a huge fan of ‘The Secret’. Thankfully I had already learned for myself how the law of attraction aka positive thinking could help me further myself in life when the big Secret phenomenon occured. So I could take a stand when people would tell me how its all [...]
