Today I am Thankful

by Chavah Kinloch on March 1, 2010

I spotted a post over on Art by Anya today and it reminded me that it’s been a while since I did one of these. I thought I’d put out a list of things that make my life happier. Feel free to add your own!

Things I am thankful for:

  • That even though I’m sick again I feel pretty good. It gave me a chance to cuddle up under a duvet on my couch.
  • Boston stopped screaming at nap time. All last week he screamed. Today he was back to his regular self and smiled all day and cooed himself to sleep. 3 sleeps in a day. Yay! Back to normal.
  • I get to socialise with some talented artist folk on Friday night.
  • I live in a wonderful place where I feel like I’m part of the community.
  • Rainy days.
  • Cheeky, clever and beautiful children.
  • Bargain buys
  • Budgets
  • Working from home
  • A stocked pantry, fridge and freezer
  • Funny friends
  • Movie nights on the weekend
  • Short hair
  • Pyjamas
  • New underwear
  • Speech therapy for my little guy
  • Opportunities abound
  • The ability to make hard decisions
  • Cake
  • Meeting nice BYU girls
  • Black hair. Don’t know why but I enjoy my dark hair.
  • Sacrifices paying off
  • The internet
  • Every experience I’ve had in life that has moulded me into who I am today
  • My sometimes twisted sense of humour
  • The ability to learn from mistakes
  • My amazing husband and the love and patience he shows me every day
  • Picnics in the park
  • Stretchy pants for ‘fat’ days
  • My weird weight loss – I’m down 8kg now
  • Auckland’s bakery food
  • America’s Next Top Model
  • Sweet smelling room sprays from Living and Giving
  • All things arty
  • Lime water
  • Huggies wipes
  • Surviving labour 4 times
  • Colour
  • You

And here's what I'd look like as a blonde lol.

I got compliments!

by Chavah Kinloch on April 24, 2008

In invercargill there aren’t too many places to shop for art supplies so I’m a dedicated shopper at the Art Store in town. I began using resin about a month ago and knew they’d be the only place I could count on to find it. When I went in, the lovely lady who’s name I must learn, got talking and showed me a small sample of the end result. She asked if I’d bring in my piece at a later date to show her. After multiple trips back without the painting for various reasons, I FINALLY was able to take along my painting to show her. I was blown away by her reaction! I’ve seen others bring in pieces to show her and she smiled politely and said nice things but she was very genuinely impressed with it and I’m sure, had it been for sale right then and there it would be hers. I won’t list the compliments because there were many and I’m sooo thankful. Some days it just gets so hard to carry on as an artist but today it felt worth it.
